17/05/2008

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Kelham Island Tavern last night. We thoroughly enjoyed it, it's always a pleasure to play for an appreciative audience, and it sounded like we'd conquered many of our sound problems too, which was nice!

In other news, there are a couple of new songs over at our MySpace page, I'll try to upload some to a proper server next week, so they can be accessed from here.

20/11/2007

A little bird tells me that it's been too long since I updated this page.

A total blast was had by all at The Red House on Sunday night. We might be able to book a few dates there in the new year, watch this space.

In the meantime, here's our revised gig-list. This Sunday (25th Nov) we're playing at The Dove & Rainbow, perhaps we'll see some of you there. 25th Nov is also my birthday, but I don't want anything special ;-)

Cheers.

02/04/2007

Thanks to everyone who came along on Saturday night to The Harlequin. It was, at least we thought it was, a pretty successful evening, people dancing, enthusiastic applause and all that kind of thing. The management was all smiles and confirmed our repeat booking for a fortnight's time.

So far so good.

I got a phone call yesterday telling me that our booking for the 14th is cancelled, that we don't fit in with the pub and that we are "square pegs in round holes". What might have happened overnight to change their minds, or why, if they'd already made up their minds, they didn't have the common human decency to tell us straight to our faces, I can't begin to speculate. Any road, it looks like we won't be playing there again. There's probably material for a song in this, what looks like a recurring motif in our "career"!

Here's the obligatory updated, but sadly depleted, gig-list link!

30/01/2007

Last Friday's Riverside gig was our first outing for a couple of months. We were both a bit nervous about how it would go, after such a long break. Any road, thanks to everyone who came along, we had a fantastic night. Thanks.

Hopefully, some of you will make it along to this Thursday's Red Deer sesh. See you there.

The obligatory updated gig-list link.

22/11/2006

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Rare and Racy benefit gigs and made them such a success.

Keep buying your records, CDs and books in the shop, those guys are part of what makes Sheffield such a great city.

08/11/2006

The Rare and Racy benefit gigs have had to find a new venue. The Cremorne decided, very late in the day, that they didn't want to do it.

The dates remain the same, 17th and 18th Nov, the events will now happen at The George IV, Infirmary Rd.

That gig-list again.

07/10/2006

A hangover from the double-booking continuum at The Riverside Café Bar means that we're not actually playing there tonight.

Sorry for any inconvenience. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

29/09/2006

We're playing at The Bath Hotel on Sunday night, in case anyone's actually reading this and would like to come along.

I'm going to delete our email accounts and start new ones quite soon. This is because we're receiving over twenty unwanted items of SPAM every day. The junk-mail filter works fine, but I'm concerned that some "real" emails might be getting shredded along with all the crap that spammers, scammers and assorted marketing scum keep sending.

So, it looks like I'll have to update our cards etc.

That gig-list again.

18/08/2006

Last night's support slot at The Bath Hotel was a lot of fun. Big thanks to Zach Parrish and Brad, the headliners, for being such great guys and true gents. They played a tremendous set, real entertainment.

Tonight's gig at the Riverside Café Bar is unfortunately cancelled, due to a double-booking.

The gig has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 7th.

07/08/2006

Lee from Roads and Riders (a US motorcyclists website) has used the old StumbleMouse Stomp as a backing track for his short film of a "Poker Run". What's a "Poker Run"? Watch the film and find out.

06/08/2006

Stumblin' Andy K beer-mat cartoon. We had a ball at The Gardener's Rest on Friday night, thanks to everyone who showed up and supported us. We will be playing there again, but haven't sorted any dates out yet. Watch this space. One of the punters there did this caricature of me on a beer mat and gave it to me.

01/07/2006

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Riverside Café Bar last night.

Was it good for you too?

Anyhoo, don't forget Thursday's Red Deer sesh. See you there.

That gig-list again.

06/06/2006

Some people have been suggesting that there's something demonic about today's date, but I'm buggered if I can find any reference to 06062006 on any crackpot occultist websites. Takes all sorts, eh?

Anyhoo, thanks to all of you who bother to read these pages, and special thanks to all of you who turn up at our gigs and our regular session at The Red Deer.

We've now got a MySpace page. There are some live tracks from recent gigs on there, which I'll update from time to time.

06/05/2006

Great fun was had, as usual, at Thursday night's session at The Red Deer. Thanks for turning up guys.

I've made a new page for news about the sessions, with some photos from last week's event.

We've got quite a few gigs coming up over the next few weeks, here's our gig-list again. Hope to see you there.

29/04/2006

Last night's gig at the Riverside Café Bar was great fun, thanks to everyone who turned up and for all the kind things people said afterwards.

We're hoping to see some familiar faces at our regular monthly session at The Red Deer this Thursday, and there might be some more news by then concerning our proposed "third Thursday" session - to be held in a somewhat quieter environment. Anyhoo, it's probably a mistake to theorise before we have data.

See you Thursday.

26/03/2006

Thanks to all the staff and students at Stephenson Halls of Residence for their wonderful hospitality and support last night.

We had a great time playing and meeting some of you afterwards.

Looks like we've not got much on for the next few weeks, apart from the regular Acoustic Blues session at The Red Deer on Thursday, April 6th.

See you there.

That gig-list again.

15/03/2006

We've just been asked to play at Stephenson Halls of Residence a week on Saturday (25th March).

Just waiting for confirmation on that one.

Anyhoo, here's our gig-list.

14/03/2006

We've had a great run of gigs lately, one more this month at The Bath Hotel on Wednesday 15th (that's tomorrow).

Anyhoo, maybe we'll see you there.

Thanks to all the punters who've made the last few weeks' gigs so much fun.

06/02/2006

Normal service is now being resumed. I had a major software problem, which is why our gig-list hadn't been updated for so long.

Anyhoo, we're back in business now, and looking forward to seeing some of you this Thursday evening (9th Feb) at The Green Room.

Be there or be somewhere else...

Don't forget, it's almost time for Sheffield's Philadelphia Blues Festival. We'll be playing on the Friday night at the Riverside Café Bar, just FYI.

Well, that about wraps it up for this update. See you soon.

19/12/2005

We had fun at Riverside Café Bar on Saturday night. Basically, we'd forgotten that it was the last weekend before xmas, so much fun was had trying to book a taxi to get us there and back.

Anyhoo, we really enjoyed playing there and we've got two further bookings there for the new year.

Have a great xmas and a happy new year.

Click here for our list of forthcoming events.

28/11/2005

Here are a couple of photos from The Nottingham House's 24th Nov breast cancer charity gig.Nottingham House 24/11/05Nottingham House 24/11/05

Thanks to everyone who turned up.

Click here for our list of forthcoming events.

21/11/2005

We're going into a recording studio tomorrow. With a bit of luck, there could be an album of our songs available by Xmas! I'll keep you posted of course, this page will be the first place where any forthcoming album will be announced. In the meantime, perhaps you'll join us at The Bath Hotel on Wednesday night (23rd Nov.) or The Nottingham House on Thursday night (24th Nov.).

As ever, thanks for your continued support, I'll be wearing it later!

Click here for our list of forthcoming events

08/11/2005

Big thanks to everyone who showed up for last week's marathon series of events.

We particularly enjoyed ourselves down at The Fat Cat, it's always a pleasure to play there. We've got a couple more gigs lined up for the next couple of weeks, click here for our list of forthcoming events.

16/10/2005

Short notice, I know, but we've been asked to play at The Green Room next Sunday night, 23rd of October. This will be part of a series of "Blue Moods" events at that venue, I think the promoter is hoping for a kind of "Greenwich Village" type atmosphere, with candlelit tables and what-not. Any road, it would be great to see some of you there.

24/09/2005

Thanks to everyone who came to our recent gigs. Click here for our list of forthcoming events.

We had a couple of (hopefully) minor problems with the Green Room's PA system this week, but are confident that we'll have that sorted out for the next time we play there.

15/08/2005

A new song is now on our Music page (link now fixed!). I hope you enjoy "Pride Comes Before a Fall Blues", it's the first recording I've made using my Washburn R306. I think it's come out pretty well, I hope you agree :-)

08/08/2005

After two eventful years, Charlie has decided that he can't continue as half of the Twosome.

I'll try to carry on, initially working with Dick, perhaps going solo from time to time. We'll just have to see how it goes. Naturally, The Red Deer Blues Night events will continue as planned until further notice.

Expect any news to be posted here.

Our recent Cognac gig went spectacularly well (if you ask me), accompanied by Pierre Dorian on harp. I believe there's some footage of the event, which I may be able to post here in the relatively near future.

16/07/2005

Mousey couldn't make it to our Green Fair gig this afternoon, owing to a prior engagement, so I arranged with my mate Dick that we'd do it instead. We had a great time, half an hour doesn't seem long enough sometimes. Thanks Dick for helping out, we ought to do that again sometime.

10/07/2005

Thanks to Leo & Asa for their sterling performances at last night's party. Wonderful stuff, guys.

Last Thursday's Acoustic Blues Night at The Red Deer went really well again, we'll be looking forward to seeing some of you there again on the 4th of August. We should be playing at the Sheffield Green Fair next Saturday (16th July), but this hasn't been confirmed yet. Any further info will be posted here as soon as I get it.

03/06/2005

Last night's Acoustic Blues Night at The Red Deer was pretty much a resounding success if you ask me. Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a great night. We hope you'll all come back for the next session, which is scheduled for Thursday July 7th.

25/05/2005

A last-minute change of plan at The Bath Hotel means that we'll be playing there again this Sunday, 29th May. Short notice, I know, but we hope some of you can make it along.

18/05/2005

As ever, we thoroughly enjoyed our gig at The Bath Hotel. Thanks to everyone who showed up.

We were thinking of playing a set at this year's Sharrow Festival, but it clashes with Charlie's holiday. There's not much else to report really, but when there is, you'll find it here.

09/05/2005

Last week's Acoustic Blues Night at The Red Deer was great fun, with only a couple of minor hiccups. This series of events has real potential. With luck, this could become a regular chance for blues musicians to meet up and exchange ideas and technical knowledge. But of course, it's really about enjoying each other's music. Thanks to everyone who made it such a great night.

Tonight we're playing at The Green Room at around 8.00PM, we hope to see some of you there.

01/05/2005

Thanks to everyone who came down to hear us at The Fat Cat yesterday. Special thanks to Leo & Asa, AKA Two's a Crowd, for their wonderful support set, great stuff lads. We had a great time playing, although the weather caused some confusion and worry at first. That's how come we didn't bring our PA, we thought it would be raining, so went as if to play in a small room, then ended up in the beer garden anyway - playing unamplified (which is how we really like it!).

28/04/2005

We're playing at The Green Room, Devonshire Street, Sheffield on May the 9th, around 8.30PM.

I've made a separate page for forthcoming events, as this page was getting a bit messy.

You can find our gig-list here. I'll update the list as events are booked, but I won't keep cluttering up this page with repeated lists with minor changes.

26/04/2005

May 5th,     Acoustic Blues Night at The Red Deer

May 15th,    The Bath Hotel around 8PM

25/04/2005

Big thanks to everyone who came down to The Bath Hotel last night, we had a great time and we hope you all enjoyed hearing us.

We're booked in for another Sunday night, so maybe we'll see some of you there again.

Here's that updated fixture list:

April 30th,   The Fat Cat (Philadelphia Blues Festival) around 2.30PM

May 5th,     Acoustic Blues Night at The Red Deer

May 15th,    The Bath Hotel around 8PM

20/04/2005

We finally sprung for a PA system. We're going to road-test that at our Fat Cat gig next weekend (Saturday April 30th, about 2.30PM). Hopefully the weather will be reasonable, as we're kind of hoping to play in the beer garden. Fingers crossed.

In the meantime, we'll be playing un-amplified at The Bath Hotel on April 24th, around 8PM.

15/04/2005

Okay, I just found out that we're not playing at the Hillsborough Hotel on April 30th.

So, our gig-list should read:

April 24th,    The Bath Hotel around 8PM

April 30th,    The Fat Cat (Philadelphia Blues Festival) around 2.30PM

09/04/2005

Thursday night's Blues Night at The Red Deer was quite a success, thanks to all the musicians and blues fans who came along. The management have asked us to host a follow-up event. That will be on the first Thursday in May, that's Thursday the 5th of May, round about 8PM. Hopefully we'll see some of you there.

Also, don't forget our forthcoming gigs at:

April 24th,    The Bath Hotel around 8PM

April 30th,    The Fat Cat (Philadelphia Blues Festival) around 2.30PM

April 30th,    The Hillsborough Hotel (Philadelphia Blues Festival) 9PM (TBC)

28/02/2005

We're trying to organise monthly acoustic blues nights at The Red Deer. I had a word with Simon, our genial host, last night. We've arranged for the first event to happen on Thursday April 7th, kicking off at around 8PM. The idea is to create something like a "singer's night", only blues not folk. A few people have already said they'll come along with an instrument and play us some blues. It sounds like it could be a great night and an opportunity to learn new stuff from each other, so why not join us?

Also, our gig-list has grown again:

March 9th,    The Bath Hotel around 8PM

April 7th,     Acoustic Blues Night at The Red Deer

April 24th,    The Bath Hotel around 8PM

April 30th,    The Fat Cat (Philadelphia Blues Festival) around 2.30PM

April 30th,    The Hillsborough Hotel (Philadelphia Blues Festival) 9PM

25/02/2005

There's been an alteration in the date of our next Bath Hotel gig. We won't be playing on Sunday 13th March, but will be there a few days earlier, on Wednesday the 9th.

So, our list of forthcoming gigs currently reads as follows:

March 9th, The Bath Hotel

April 24th, The Bath Hotel

April 30th, The Fat Cat (Philadelphia Blues Festival)

If we get much busier, I'll make a "gig-list" page, with all the info in a table format.

We aim to please...

06/02/2005

In addition to the two Bath Hotel gigs listed below, we are also pleased to announce that we'll be playing at the Fat Cat again in April. This time it'll be as part of Sheffield's annual Philadelphia Blues Festival. We'll be playing there on April 30th, sometime in the afternoon, perhaps in the beer garden if the weather's good! More details will be posted here as they become available.

13/01/2005

Last night's gig at The Bath Hotel was great fun. Thanks to everyone who came to listen.

We're very pleased to announce that we've got two more bookings at The Bath:

Wednesday 23rd February and Sunday 13th March. Maybe we'll see you there.

05/01/2005

The date for our next gig at The Bath Hotel is confirmed as Wednesday 12th of January, that's next Wednesday. Kicking-off as usual at around 8PM (20:00). As ever, we hope to see you there.

21/11/2004

Charlie O. and The Houserockers have just released their "Trouble in The Southland" CD. Track 7 is a version of our song Cockroach Blues which the Houserockers have given their unique treatment. We're delighted (and quite proud too!) that they liked the song enough to include on the released version of their album. Click the above link to find out more about The Houserockers.

18/11/2004

Thanks to everyone who turned up for our gig last night. We had a great night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The Bath Hotel is a great little pub and a wonderful place to play. We'll be playing there again on January 12th 2005 (to be confirmed), we're looking forward to it and hope to see some of you there.

12/11/2004

The date for our next gig at The Bath Hotel is Wednesday 17th of November, that's next Wednesday. I guess we'll probably start around 8PM or thereabouts. As ever, we hope to see you there.

08/11/2004

Photographer Jennifer Pellenq took a few pics of us in the Fat Cat beer garden last Friday night. Here they are. Jennifer explained that she was interested that night in experimenting with long exposure-times to get a sense of movement into her photos. I think there's a kind of eerie feeling about how all the objects on the table are stationary and in sharp focus, and it certainly makes a strong contrast with all the motion-blur around Charlie and me getting down with our bad selves!

Thanks Jennifer, the photos are fantastic.

Here's that link again: Jennifer Pellenq's online photo-gallery.

06/11/2004

Thanks to everyone who came to hear us last night at the Fat Cat, we really appreciate your support and words of encouragement. Our next scheduled outing will be back at The Bath Hotel, in about two weeks time. There's some confusion over the date, so I'll have to ask the landlord there to clarify the situation. Full details will be posted here as soon as I know them.

23/10/2004

Just a quick reminder of our Bonfire Night gig at the Fat Cat. That's November 5th. we're not sure of the kick-off time, but it'll probably be around 8PM or thereabouts. We hope to see some of you there.

The Cognac album covers are apparently still under development at RustyLabs Inc., but hopefully they'll be ready soon.

27/09/2004

Thanks to everyone who came to see us at The Bath Hotel last night. Special thanks to the Deepcar Massive for their support, I'll be wearing it later.

We'll be playing at The Bath Hotel again in the not-too-distant future, In the meantime, our next scheduled gig is on Bonfire Night at the Fat Cat. That was a great night last year, we hope to see some of you there again this year.

04/09/2004

We've got a gig booked at The Bath Hotel on Sunday 26/09/04 at around 8PM, or 20:00 hours, depending on your preferences. Click here for directions to the Bath Hotel.

We're looking forward to it, and hope to see some of you there.

26/08/2004

Our "Live in Cognac" album is nearly ready for distribution.

We're just waiting for the covers to come back from the designer, which shouldn't be too long now.

If you think you'd like to hear it, email us.

22/08/2004

I spoke to the landlord of the Fat Cat last night, and arranged for us to play there at their Bonfire Night do. So, that'll be November 5th, in the beer garden annex. We had a great night at last year's Bonfire Night bash, and hope to see some of you there this time.

04/08/2004

Breaking news:

Charlie "Bluesmouse" Salt has gone and got himself a job!

We'll continue as before, but we'll have to fit our practice sessions in around Charlie's new work-arrangements.

I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing Charlie success in his new post.

30/07/2004

We hope you like our new-look pages.

I'll continue updating the France page as pics etc. come in.
